Hello! Today I’m excited to share with you my latest Granada-inspired artwork: Ventana Granaína (2016). I’ve just finished it today! There are so many beautiful windows around Granada of all shapes and sizes. I personally am a big fan of rustic-type shutters with lots of flowers of all different colours. This painting was inspired by all those wonderfully-kept windows all over the city.
The eagle-eyed of you may have noticed that I’ve included a few special details specific to Granada. The blue and green tiling above the window and the plant pot of the same colours are examples of a type of ceramic native to Granada known as Loja or Fajalauza. Everywhere you go you see plant pots, tiles and name plaques decorated in this distinctive blue and green combination which originated in Granada’s old city – the Albaicín – in the 16th century. So there you go – art, culture and history all in one! Wishing a wonderful Wednesday evening to you all – time to relax!
