This is an original artwork (acrylic and ink on canvas) of the Calderería Nueva street in Granada, Spain. This lively street is full of traditional Arab tea houses (teterías) and shops selling all kinds of brightly-coloured and sparkly wares from home decor, to clothes, to souvenirs. As you reach the end of the street and start to emerge from the slow-moving crowd, it opens out onto a little square with a bar to one side. This painting shows the view looking down from that square in a quiet moment. Keep walking up and you’ll start the climb up the Cuesta de San Gregorio and onwards to the Albaicín and its white-washed houses and cobbled streets.
I made this painting specially for my 2017 solo exhibition entitled “Cautivada por Granada” showing in the Enrique Seijas Gallery, Calle Frailes, 30, Granada (Spain).
