The Cobb Gate (Lyme Regis, England)

Watercolour and ink artwork on paper inspired by the Dorset town of Lyme Regis in England. I love the beach on a sunny day but there is something so wonderful about a stormy day in a coastal town in winter. With most people safely harboured inside, the town is yours. You wrap up warm and head out for a bracing walk; as the wind pushes against your every step the sound of the waves crashing on the shore echoes in your ears and the salt fills your lungs. After a while, tired but exhilarated, you head towards the inviting glow of the pub and scurry inside. Peeling off your outer layers you put them to dry by the open fire and snuggle down happily into the warmth of a well-worn sofa with a steaming cup of tea and a generous slice of delicious homemade cake.
